We spent this last week decorating for Christmas. Here are a few snapshots of what we did to inspire your creative genius. A couple of principles that we worked with...
- Don't overpower the home, instead highlight the features that you already have.
- Don't clutter, make eye catching, significant, features instead of a lot of little small things.
- Lights add to the attractiveness of any decoration.
- Keep with the style of your home. Ours is kind of simple country, so we tried to keep with the same style.
These trees can be simply found at the dollar store and the simple nativity brings "class" The open Bible is one that we had and didn't require spending anything.
The art piece over the mantle is always there, we added garland, lights, and few "holiday" accents to the end of the mantle. A few artificial "berries" are inserted into the greenery to add color.
This little tree dresses up our breezeway entrance where most people come into the house. (Note the shoes sitting where they were taken off)
This Tree is our first themed tree. It was designed by an interior designer who used to work with me in my construction company. Simple, but elegant and all the colors and pieces tie together. (Picture was taken in progress therefore the kids toys on the floor)
Close up of the other side of our fireplace. Similar to the other mantle with the addition of stockings.
Decorated handrail. We used icicle lights to give a little more interest below the garland. Some ribbon and the treatment is finished.
Enjoy, and may you be inspired to add a festive flair to your home as we celebrate our Saviors birth.
Oh.My.Word.
